Summer Classes Session 2 Coming Soon

One more color to print
We have one week left in the first session and I am happy to report completed editions for all students will be achieved!   Two color reduction relief is a great introduction for the newcomer and our two rookies this session will have wonderful prints to show for their first experience.

"Mystic Rib" by Nancy Burns

The second session is still open for registration.  Classes begin Saturday, July 14th and continue every Saturday through August 11th.  (9am-12pm.)
This is a great introduction to what can be a complicated process.   All you need is a simple image, sized to 6 x 8 inches and you are ready to begin!  You can work from a drawing or a photograph (but be sure it is a photo you have taken).

Passages

It has been a long time since I have posted.  My Dad died March 23rd in Cincinnati at the age of 96.  My brother, who lives in Charlotte, NC and my sister, who lives in St Helena, CA and I were all able to speak at Dad's funeral where his friends, neighbors and acquaintances, children of his friends, and a few special relatives came out to give him a good sendoff.
While he was in the hospital, my husband and I sold our house and I came back from Cincinnati in time to find us an apartment to rent until we find our forever home.  The Siblings all met in Cincinnati the end of April to interview realtors, hire one and get the house sale ready.  It sold in 6 days.  We came back for 8 days the end of May to deal with the furnishings and treasures - an exhausting and emotional time which left little time for reflection and even grieving.  We left a virtually empty home that we moved into when Nancy was born 59 years ago.  It was a beautiful sunny day and sad on so many levels.

My brother and sister and I shared our last meal at the Chart House on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River with a great city view.  This was our final salute to Dad, and Mom, the long held tradition of dinner on the last night together at the Chart House.  I will miss many things about Cincinnati and this view is one of them.

I came home in time to start teaching at the Phoenix Center for the Arts.  Talk about art healing!  It feels so good to back in the studio with a wonderful range of students - some who have never taken a printmaking class to two with masters degrees in fine art.  We are having such fun!  As I get my printmaking legs back under me, I am looking forward to spending time with my Dad as I remember and discover what his passing means to me.
